What is the OpenManage Integration for VMware vCenter?
The OpenManage Integration for VMware vCenter (OMIVV) is designed to streamline the management processes in your data center environment by allowing you to use VMware vCenter Server to manage your full server infrastructure - both physical and virtual. From monitoring system level information, bubbling up system alerts for action in vCenter, rolling out firmware updates for an ESXi or vSAN cluster that can leverage DRS, to bare metal deployment, the OpenManage Integration will expand and enrich your data center management experience with Dell EMC PowerEdge servers.
In addition to the integration for vCenter, OMIVV includes rights for a server management pack for vRealize Operations Manager. This leverages the vCenter integration to provide hardware alerts and new dashboards, giving hardware relationship mapping into the vRealize Operations data for better troubleshooting and combined reporting.

| BIOS and firmware updates | • Be able to schedule and deploy firmware stack updates for PowerEdge servers directly within vCenter • With both vSphere and vSAN clusters that have VMware DRS enabled, be able to deploy cluster aware updates that set a host in maintenance mode, update, then bring it back online before moving to the next. |
| Deep level detail for hardware inventory | • Full inventory information on PowerEdge server and chassis, such as quantity, part type, and slot, for Dell EMC certified components such as processor, memory, IO cards, fan / thermal details, local storage, and more. |
| Monitoring and alerting | • Hardware information and alerts pulled into vCenter with controls to allow for setting on notification and manual approval or automatic events in relation to the alert. • Support for VMware ProActive HA to further leverage vCenter policies on automating specific hardware redundancy loss events (requires OMIVV 4.0 or higher and vCenter 6.5 or higher) • With the OpenManage Management Pack for vRealize Operations (requires 4.0 or higher), also see top alerts and health status in vRealize Operations |
